Crime: Desertion

Background: Canon history. From her time in [community profile] deercountry, she's experienced living without Noise and having her life based around her own decisions and wants. Echo got to spend more time with Oz so she thinks she understands their relationship (she doesn't), but he went through some awful stuff right before he left that she blames herself for which is still a distressing issue for her. She also spent more time with Ada, Break, and Alice from her canon, the latter two allowing her to see other sides of them and get past her dislike from her past experiences. Echo has gotten more comfortable with reaching out to people and formed relationships with several others who were not from her world, many of whom tried to help her understand things about her feelings and dealing with relationships when she had questions about them. She's had a goal of figuring out how to make friends because she thinks she hasn't done that yet apart from Oz.

Personality: Echo's personality is built from her intrinsic loyalty and protectiveness. She was created to be Noise's guardian, which she upheld literally until the end in spite of the abuse Noise put her through. She was also so steadfast in her job as Vincent's servant and bodyguard that people assumed she was just his loyal doll. In reality, Echo did not want to put up with Vincent and his unceasing harassment. Yet she felt as though she had no choice because she didn't think she was an actual person, a point that Duldee and Noise emphasized to her, too. As Echo started to find herself, she began wanting to protect other people of her own free will. She forced herself into control of her body to help Ada when Noise was attempting to torture her, and she also wanted to go along with Oz when he had to run for his life after his role in Jack's plan was revealed even though it meant she was abandoning her duties.

Although she eventually recognizes herself as an actual existence, being constantly told that she was just a temporary personality that would vanish has her very messed up mentally. She doesn't feel much self-worth, and she readily sacrificed herself to protect Noise because she said it didn't matter if she disappeared. Echo is also extremely repressed in her emotions. This was in part due to her not believing she was allowed to have them because she was "just an echo". She revealed that she'd been annoyed with Vincent for a long time when speaking to Oz at one point, but she never even had the opportunity to express those feelings until then. This serious level of abuse left her lacking many of the skills and knowledge the average person couldn't imagine living without. Echo didn't even know what happiness was in the first place until Oz brought it up.

Echo has been very receptive to learning about herself because she is highly curious. She keeps a diary that is really just a journal of various things which she sees or hears that she finds interesting. Part of her reason for being compelled to keep it was the knowledge that she was meant to vanish without leaving any trace, but she also once stated that she wants to know and understand everything. This, as well as her work guarding Noise and Vincent, has led to her being very observant. She was able to spot the danger and pull Alice out of the way when B-Rabbit's power was going out of control. She is also good at being able to judge what a person is likely to do since she can look at things emotionlessly, which is mostly helpful when she is in battle or doing surveillance work.

The aforementioned skills are also another problem for her, though: Echo is overly objective. Her response to the very first thing that made her happy, a fireworks show, was to specifically describe how they work. She bickered with Alice over the rude way the other girl treated Oz. When Alice asked why she even cared, Echo thought it was because he was the master of Vincent's beloved brother. Her voluntary sacrifice protecting Noise shows some improvement on this, because she said it was something she wanted to do even if it might be the wrong idea. However, Echo couldn't figure out why Oz was crying over her as she was dying, so she still has a long way to go when it comes to understanding people and their feelings.

Abilities: Echo is in the body of a Baskerville, which means she has superhuman physical stamina and endurance. This not only includes being able to run at high speed for long amounts of time, jumping impressively high, and the ability to do gymnastic-like battle moves, but also means she can be perfectly still and quiet for hours at a time and maintain her focus. Her body also has healing powers and can do so noticeably quickly, including from very serious injuries. Most wounds that would usually prove fatal incapacitate her for a while at worst, but regrowing a limb or head is not possible.

And, for what it's worth, Echo is currently not sharing her body with Noise due to the arrival mechanics of her previous game.

Inventory: Her regular outfit, her twin short swords, her journal, a pencil, and her communication device from Trench which will be useless here.
